My Day in Bishop Arts District
In April I got to explore Bishop Arts District for the first time with one of my very best friends and roommates from college, Trent (Check out his travel blog Time With Trenton!)
I’ve always heard from local friends that Bishop Arts was super cute, but I hadn’t had the chance to check it out until now. Aside from all of the AMAZING murals, there are several fun shops, restaurants and places/things to check out as you’re taking pictures! Keep reading to hear about a few of my favorites…
The Wild Detectives
The Wild Detectives is a Bookstore Bar (How cool – right?!) Their menu features coffee, tea and soft drinks as well as beer, wine and cocktails. They also have a FOOD menu featuring breakfast items, desserts, snacks and cheese boards to enjoy with your drink of choice and your book. Something super special about The Wild Detectives is that they place a huge emphasis on curating experiences and encouraging cultural conversation within the community. I think this is so important and I love that they provide such a welcoming, intimate environment. Another plus? They have a dog-friendly patio/picnic area in the back. Check out The Wild Detectives at thewilddetectives.com, or go visit them at 314 W Eighth St, Dallas, TX.
I think the name of this one explains exactly why I love it…P I E. I am obsessed with pie (is that weird?) But in all seriousness, this place is absolutely adorable inside, but they also have a great seating area outside next to the cutest musical note mural. I had a piece of the Dr. Love (red velvet pie), which they described by saying “it’s like a pie and a brownie had a baby” which was insanely accurate. I also tried the iced coffee, which they bring out to you black – giving you the option to add your own cream/sugar. I love this because I can customize my coffee to my mood (Fun Fact: Some days I love lots of sugar, other days I prefer none at all!) The plates that the pie was served on looked like they were straight out of your grandmother’s vintage china cabinet and they played the BEST music. Honestly the entire experience was just as incredible as the pie. Be sure to go get yourself a slice (or a whole pie) at 314 N Bishop Ave, Dallas, TX.
Bishop Cider Co.
If you know me (and most likely even if you don’t), you know that hard cider is my go-to beverage when I’m trying to get my drank on. Bishop Cider Co. Tasting Room is one of the coolest places I have ever been. All cider, all the time. They have 6 ciders on tap at all times, which are available to enjoy in the tasting room or to-go in a growler/cans. The atmosphere of this little place is awesome too! It has a great relaxed vibe and the bartenders are super friendly. We got a flight and were able to try all 6 ciders on draft for only $15 and I honestly can’t think of anything I’ve enjoyed more! All of the flavors were so good, I don’t think I can pick a favorite (But if I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO – it would be the Crackberry!) Be sure to stop in and try whatever awesome ciders they have on draft next time you’re in the area (Tues-Sun) at 509 N Bishop Ave. Ste C, Dallas, TX 75208
